As the WONDR platform has grown, so too has the requirement to constantly consider whether the features that were fit for purpose yesterday will be fit for purpose tomorrow. When our messenger first debuted back in 2018, its purpose was to convey single messages between individuals. It operated a bit like e-mail: as a user you log in, navigate to your messages, check out what’s new, then leave. Over time, we realised that our users expected something closer to an instant messenger.
‘Hey, is anyone using the staging site?’ is a question most software developers will be used to hearing. You have three environments: local, staging and production. Any developer can spin up the application locally to build new features, and deploying those features to a single production destination is simple because it just needs to reflect the main branch of your Git repo. But when there are several developers who all need to share WIP features with the QA team and only one staging server on which to deploy them, what do you do?
A Recap Throughout August and September, we hosted a competition across six key themes regarding the future of sustainability. Over 80 people entered to share their vision of the future. Alongside their team of collaborators, they explored their vision for a sustainable future from across 6 key themes. We’ve learned so much with our community from how to travel slow, insights on the effects of intersectional environmentalism, how to engage workplace wellness and the future of sustainable clothing — where fast fashion is a thing of the past.
