Welcome to WONDR’s Team Spotlight!

Dear Reader, you might be wondering what Team Spotlight is and I think it’s only fair if we answered that question early on. So without further ado, let’s see what that means:

Team Spotlight is a format of asking questions and sharing answers between team members in order to get to know each other better, through non-standard questions, which may vary and are designed to show funny and relatable side of ourselves.

This blog post is all about our dear David! He is our CTO with over 15 years of experience in tech and is responsible for empowering our tech team, helping out wherever he can and in general keeping things running smoothly. This all sounds very complicated but I assure you, our David is most down to earth guy you’ll meet and I hope this questionnaire shows you just how fun he can be!

We’ve asked David twelve tricky questions and demanded very-serious-answers..
Let’s see what he said 😜

  1. If you gained a superpower which lets you know the history of every object you touched - what would you touch first?

I’d probably go around touching everything at car boot sales to find all the Swiss watches being unwittingly sold for 50p.

  2. If you could change places with anyone in the world, who would it be and why?

There’s someone I follow on YouTube who grows bamboo and makes flutes from them for a living. I think that would be an amazing life to lead.

  3. If animals could talk, which would be the rudest?
    Budgies.

  4. What mythical creature would improve the world most if it existed?

Y Ddraig Goch, the Welsh dragon. Because the world needs more red animals, and who wouldn’t love a flying reptile?

  5. If you were moving to another country, but could only pack one carry-on sized bag, what would you pack?

A tin whistle, a laptop, a good hat and a book.

  6. Would you rather have all traffic lights you approach be green or never have to queue again?

    Never have to queue.

  7. Would you rather see what was behind every closed door or be able to guess the combination of every safe on the first try?

Closed doors—I imagine most of the safes in the world have boring documents inside, but interesting things happen behind closed doors.

  8. When you are old, what do you think children will ask you to tell stories about?

‘Tell us again about how you used to have to write code by hand’, as they snicker in disbelief.

  9. What would be the best thing you could reasonably expect to find in a cave?

    Probably an old shipwreck.

  10. What animal or plant do you think should be renamed?

I quite like that bumblebees used to be called ‘humble-bees’—I’d like to see them get that name back.

Two questions to get to know you better:

  1. What can someone else do to make your day better?

Talk to me about something they’re geeking out about. That, or give me chocolate.

  2. What is something that can easily upset you?

    Petty politics in small groups.
